Sustainable Development Goal Hub 8
The University of Auckland is chair of the United Nations Academic Impact hub for decent work and economic growth (Sustainable Development Goal 8 or SDG 8).
Decent work means opportunities for everyone to get work that is productive and delivers a fair income, security in the workplace and social protection for families, better prospects for personal development and social integration. The University can contribute to this goal through research, teaching and learning, operating practices, partnerships and capacity building.
Academic impact hubs advance sustainable development by leveraging the power of academia for positive social, economic and environmental change. There are around 1,700 universities from 153 countries who are members of United Nations Academic Impact.
