Case studies

Juncture supports the development and integration of social and environmental impact case studies on Aotearoa New Zealand companies into our business curriculum. These provide important examples for inspiring others on new ways to approach business.

If you are a New Zealand business interested in finding out how to tell your story through the development of an impactful teaching case OR if you’re an academic looking for funding to develop an inclusive capitalism-themed case study, please get in touch.

Examples of case studies demonstrating inclusive capitalism in action:

Soul Capital

This case study centres on the founder of Soul Capital (New Zealand’s first impact investing fund), as they decides which of three promising social impact ventures to invest in. The decision involves balancing financial returns with social impact while considering broader strategic questions about the fund’s future direction and growth in New Zealand’s emerging impact investing market.

What comes in must go out – Rethinking circular business

This real-world case focuses on saveBOARD, a pioneering circular enterprise that transforms pre-and post-consumer soft plastics, beverage cartons and clean construction waste into high-performance building products. Based in Aotearoa New Zealand, the company stands at the forefront of applied circular economy innovation in the construction sector. The case highlights the strategic challenges of implementing and scaling circular economy models.

Environmental/social impact case – Project Jonah Collaboration

This work-in-progress case study highlights the critical role of marine mammal welfare in Aotearoa New Zealand. The case challenges business students to step outside traditional commercial thinking and grapple with the strategic realities faced by mission-driven NGOs. By rethinking familiar concepts such as competition, profit, and value creation, students learn to approach problems from fresh perspectives, cultivating the socially aware leadership needed to address complex environmental and societal challenges.
