Juncture has awarded funding to an innovative research project exploring a ‘buy-one, give-one’ model for executive education.
The project, provisionally titled ‘GiveForward’, aims to democratise access to professional development by enabling corporate donors to simultaneously purchase course places for themselves and for participants from not-for-profit organisations.
“Financial barriers prevent many talented professionals in the not-for-profit sector from accessing high-quality executive education,” explains project co-lead Dr. Billie Lythberg. “This model creates opportunities while enriching the learning environment through diverse perspectives and cross-sector collaboration.”
Initial conversations with potential corporate partners indicate strong interest, particularly among businesses seeking meaningful ways to direct their Corporate Social Responsibility funds toward sustainable impact.
The project aligns closely with Juncture’s mission to explore alternative approaches to capitalism that enhance well-being for all. “By bringing together for-profit and not-for-profit leaders in the same learning environment, we’re creating space for dialogue about inclusive business practices.”
The project exemplifies Juncture’s commitment to transdisciplinary research with solution-focused outcomes, demonstrating how academic institutions can serve as catalysts for innovative funding models that address societal challenges.
The project team includes Juncture’s Associate Director of Research Dr. Billie Lythberg (Management and International Business), Dr. Ruth Dimes (Open University, UK), Dr. Kirsty Williamson (Executive and Professional Development), Dr. Guy Bate (Management and International Business), and Dr. Drew Franklin (Department of Marketing).
